About Floorboards

Hamilton & Tauranga

Floorboards is proudly locally owned, independent, and operated by a close-knit team of passionate flooring experts. We service the Waikato and Bay of Plenty with Flooring experts in Hamilton and Tauranga.

About Floorboards

For two decades we’ve supplied and installed hard-surface flooring to homes across the Waikato, Bay of Plenty region and surrounding areas. We’ve helped countless families, building companies and DIYers create spaces to love with the best timbers, laminates, cork, and specialist flooring solutions from around the world.

Started by a builder with a passion for project management and an eye for detail, Floorboards has grown from a small family-run operation to one of the most trusted suppliers and installers of hard flooring in the industry.

We regularly work alongside leading builders, architects and interior designers to bring your beautiful home together.

Our difference is our personal touch and attention to detail. From consultation to installation and beyond, you'll be taken care of every step of the way. You deserve the right floor to live on in your home – so we'll go the extra mile to understand your needs and get you the right combination of function, style, and beauty.

Expert guidance at our flooring store

The best way to choose a floor and understand what’s right for you is to see it in person. We’ve selected the best ranges of timber, cork, laminate and hybrid vinyl floors based on strict standards of performance, price, and style, and put them on display at our Hamilton flooring store.

Located in the Carpet Mill building alongside the likes of Waikato Wardrobes and Ceramix Tiling, our display centre showcases extensive range of laminate, hard wood, cork, hybrid and waterproof flooring options.

Let us guide you through your choices so you can understand which options are right for you and which will fit your lifestyle. We showcase our extensive and comprehensive ranges at our showroom, along with demonstration booths to show you the benefits of each flooring range so that you know what flooring is right for you.

Our commitment

Every part of a building or renovation project is resource intensive – but it doesn’t have to cost the Earth. That’s why we’ve selected suppliers and manufacturers that are proving their commitment to reducing their harm to nature.

From managed forestry sites for our hardwoods to the reclaimed wood used as core boards for many of our products, the traditional and sustainable harvesting of cork bark for our Cork and CorkWoodXP products, and the low-VOC certifications of our composite floors, you can enjoy your new flooring knowing that sustainability has been considered with every range.

Quality flooring surfaces with trusted jointing and installation systems

At Floorboards, there are two methods for connecting boards that we trust. The first is the traditional tongue-and-groove system that’s used exclusively on our glued timber floors. For all our floating floors – those ranges installed without glues or adhesives – we only trust the mechanical interlocking system called Uniclic®.

While there are many competitors out there, only Uniclic® joints on high density fibre (HDF) can be driven together and apart, or lifted to unlock, without damaging the board.

Precision engineered to thousandths of a millimetre, the Uniclic® joint is stronger than glue, but reversible. That means seamless, strong joining of your floorboards – and the option to unlock boards for repairs or board replacement thanks to a specialised tool that was invented in Tauranga and is now used worldwide.

The ability to drive boards on and off and uplift without damaging the joint is what makes the Uniclic® joint unique and far superior to many jointing systems on the market. But because it’s the best, and licenced, you’ll only find it on superior floating products.

If it’s not Uniclic®, then it’s the tried-and-true tongue and groove system that holds our glued timbers together.
